# Managing Customers in ERS

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to use the Customer tab in Event Rental Systems (ERS) to manage customer profiles and gift cards.

## Overview
The Customer tab in ERS allows you to:
- Search for existing customers
- Create new customer profiles
- View customer order history
- Manage gift cards

## Searching for Customers
When you access the Customer tab:
- Your most recent search will be saved for quick access.
- A brief list of current customers is displayed.

To search for a customer:
1. Enter the customer's name in the search bar.
2. Click on the customer record to view their profile.
3. The profile includes:
- Previous orders
- Open orders
- Cancelled orders
- Quotes

## Creating a New Customer Profile
To add a new customer without placing an order:
1. Click the option to create a new customer.
2. Fill in the required fields:
- Name
- Email
3. Optionally, add:
- Phone number(s)
- Billing address (street, city, state, zip code)
- Referral source
4. Submit the form to create the profile.

## Managing Gift Cards
The Gift Card section allows you to:
- Search for gift cards by gift card number or order number.
- View and manage gift card details.
